Rhytidectomy (Facelift)

A facelift can greatly improve your looks and self-confidence. Facial plastic surgery makes it possible to correct many facial flaws and signs of premature aging. Before electing to undergo a rhytidectomy, we first discuss your goals and explore your expectations. We will help you understand how skin texture, color, personal lifestyle, and overall elasticity will impact our decision-making process.

What you can expect from a facelift:

  • Looking up to 10 years younger
  • Modern techniques have been refined to make patients look "refreshed" and not "lifted"
  • Incisions are hidden so scars are not obvious
  • Pain is minimal, and bruising and swelling are minimized with special techniques
  • Recovery time varies, but most individuals are well enough to be in public within 1-2 weeks
  • Results lasting 7-10 years

If it is determined a full facelift is not necessary, we will recommend the appropriate procedure, whether it is a mini-facelift, autologous fat transfer, skin resurfacing (including chemical peels), endoscopic facelifts, or chin augmentation. A brief synopsis of each procedure is described below.

Mini-Facelift

Mini-facelifts can help reverse early stages of visible aging or enhance a previously performed facelift. Mini-facelifts are intended to target aging in the neck and lower two-thirds of the face by repositioning skin to remove sagginess and wrinkling. Results are quickly evident and natural, revealing a much younger, smoother face.

Mini-facelifts are one of the less invasive options to reposition and tighten the skin and soft tissues of the face. When used for the appropriate candidate, mini-facelifts can reduce downtime and still achieve long-lasting results.

Autologous Fat Transfer

Facial wrinkles and creases are a normal part of the aging process, but a part that many of us would like to avoid. Autologous fat transplantation is used to treat smile lines, drool lines, hollowness under the eyes or in the cheeks, and for lip enhancement. The patient's own fat will be taken from one part of the body (i.e. abdomen or thighs) and will be injected into the face to enhance their features. This is a popular alternative to other wrinkle treatments. The procedure is safe, natural, and because the fat transfer comes from the patient, it is non-allergenic. The recovery time is short with long-lasting results.

Skin Resurfacing

Skin-resurfacing with chemical peeling can improve the look of your skin. Chemical peels help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, dryness, uneven pigmentation, and even mild acne scarring. The result is youthful and smoother-looking skin.

Different strengths of chemical peels are available. The surgeon selects the appropriate strength for your skin and customizes the procedure for your face. Often the results obtained with a chemical peel are dramatic and unequalled by any other surgical procedure. Commitment to post-operative care during the recovery period is necessary to achieve these results, and commitment to skin protection and maintenance in the future is necessary to maintain these results.

Endoscopic Facelift

Endoscopic facelifts are typically for patients who desire results for the upper half of their face, while traditional facelifts best treat the lower half of the face.

Using small incisions and a small telescope, the mid-face region (eyelids, cheeks, and nasolabial folds) can return to its natural, youthful position. Hollowness underneath the eyes and in cheeks improve, showing a much more youthful-looking face.

Mentoplasty (Chin Augmentation)

Some people have a weak or receding chin that makes their profile look out of balance. It can make the nose look too big or detract from the neckline. Chin augmentation can correct this with a very quick, simple procedure. An implant is placed in the chin giving it adequate projection. This gives the chin a smoother outline and brings the face and neck into harmony. Often, chin augmentation is done in conjunction with rhinoplasty (nasal surgery).
